Pop Goes the Weasel

play music pause music
mute music

Round and round the cobbler's bench
The monkey chased the weasel,
The monkey thought 'twas all in fun
Pop! Goes the weasel.

A penny for a spool of thread
A penny for a needle,
That's the way the money goes,
Pop! Goes the weasel.

A half a pound of tupenny rice,
A half a pound of treacle.
Mix it up and make it nice,
Pop! Goes the weasel.

Up and down the London road,
In and out of the Eagle,
That's the way the money goes,
Pop! Goes the weasel.

I've no time to plead and pine,
I've no time to wheedle,
Kiss me quick and then I'm gone
Pop! Goes the weasel.

For kids
You or one of your friends may have a pet ferret. Did you know a ferret is a member of the weasel family? Remember to wash your hands well if you handle a ferret (or any animal)—and don’t try to touch or feed weasels in the wild at all!
For teachers
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's Backyard Habitat Program can help you create appropriate wildlife habitat on your school grounds. Schoolyard habitats offer many teaching and learning opportunities in English, science, mathematics, history, geography, social studies and art. The process of planning, creating and using a schoolyard habitat exposes children to unique hands‐on experiences. A well‐designed schoolyard habitat also provides the opportunity for authentic long term data collection.

Kids 4 Research
provides information to students, teachers, and parents on responsible laboratory animal care and use in biomedical/biological research, testing, and education. The site also provides information on the benefits of such research to animals, humans, and the environment.
