Baby Mine (from "Dumbo")

Music by Frank Churchill | Lyrics by Ned Washington.

Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine.

Little one when you play
Don't you mind what they say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine.

If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for
The right to hold you.

From your head to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine.

From the Walt Disney movie, "Dumbo" (RKO Radio Pictures, 1941).

For parents
Skills such as taking a first step, smiling for the first time, and waving "byebye" are called developmental milestones. Learn how you can help your babies (and older children) develop with some positive parenting tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
For kids

The environment affects babies, kids, and adults. That includes unhealthy stuff, like tobacco smoke and lead. Sometimes, babies and kids are affected in different ways than adults. Review some of these problems and their effects on you and your family.

For teachers
NIEHS supports research to learn how environmental factors in the very early stages of life, including pregnancy, may contribute to such diseases as diabetes and cardiovascular disease in later years. This research field, called the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease, is working to understand the connections and how to prevent them.
